The firm has made its maiden voyage from St Peter Port to St Helier this morning (5 June).
The 316 seater San Pawl left Guernsey on time at 7am and arrived in Jersey at 8.20am.
It has been due to begin operations last week, but weather delayed getting the necessary operating permissions.
Islands Unlimited will run its fast cat twice on weekdays, and three times at weekends.
It has received a £150,000 subsidy from the States of Guernsey to get up and running this summer.
The vessel arrived in Guernsey last month, and Islands Unlimited boss Chad Murray told us it would suit local sea conditions.
“I’ve been impressed with her sea keeping qualities and manoeuvrability."
"As a surface effect ship, the air cushion system provides good comfort, even in moderate to rough sea conditions, as well as good efficiency and speed.”
In a social media post ahead of the first inter-islands sailing, Mr Murray said he was 'really excited to commence our first passenger service'.
"We would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to providing daily inter-island services."
Under the new, separate ferry contracts for the Channel Islands, Brittany Ferries - which serves Guernsey - operates a single weekly crossing to Jersey.
DFDS - which serves Jersey -is get to schedule a regular inter-islands service, though it did put on a one-off crossing for football's Muratti final last month.
