After 15 days without any significant rainfall, Jersey's been declared as in an 'absolute drought'.
In meteorological terms, 'absolute drought' is 15 consecutive days without 0.2mm of rain.
Jersey entered that at 10am on Tuesday (30 May).
It's much earlier in the season than last year, when Jersey entered an absolute drought on 16 July amid record-breaking temperatures.
It ended three days later when 0.7 mm of rain was recorded at Maison St Louis Observatory. It was the only measurable rain for the whole month and set a new record.
The island entered a second, longer, period of absolute drought on 4 August 2022, prompting pleas to conserve water.
A hosepipe ban was brought in later that month and remained in place until November.
The current spell of dry weather is expected to continue to at least Sunday (4 June).
It's the 131st period of drought since records began on 1894.
