One person has been pulled unconscious from a burning fourth floor flat in St Helier.
Fire crews were called out to Hilary Street at about 9.30pm last night, after neighbours were alerted to the blaze by a smoke alarm.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene and crews quickly established that the flat was heavily smoke logged.
A breathing apparatus team entered the property to find an unconscious casualty, who was immediately taken outside for treatment.
Another fire engine was then called to the scene to help extinguish the blaze.
The casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Jersey Fire and Rescue remained on the scene for about two hours, ensuring the fire was out and conducting preliminary investigations.
Further investigations to identify the cause are underway.
